On track to obtain his master of laws in international banking and finance, Darin Pastor leads Capstone Affluent Strategies, investing in companies in order to increase their earnings. Part of Darin Pastor’s professional development has been the earning of FINRA registration, such as the Series 6 examination.
FINRA – the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority – administers Series 6 to determine if one has the requisite knowledge to sell investment instruments and variable contracts. In the space of 135 minutes, candidates answer 100 multiple choice questions, plus five practice questions. With a 70 percent score required to pass, the examination is divided into four categories:
– Fundamentals of regulation and business development (22 questions)
– Making recommendations based on client particulars, developing investment goals, and informing clients of investment products (47 questions)
–Maintaining and transferring accounts Maintaining and transferring accounts, plus keeping accurate records (21 questions)
– Obtaining and checking customers’ transaction details (10 questions)
Candidates may not bring in reference materials. The test administrator will supply calculators and whiteboard markers for questions that include mathematics. Passing candidates may then market and perform transactions with mutual funds, variable life insurance and annuities, unit investment trusts, and municipal fund securities (529 College Savings Plans, Coverdell accounts, and local government investment pools).
