The FINRA Series 51 Exam

A longtime investment professional, Darin Pastor held an executive position with Chase Investment Services Corp. prior to assuming his current role as the chief executive officer of Capstone Affluent Strategies. Darin Pastor has completed study at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and holds Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 51 certification.

In collaboration with the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB), which promotes a fair municipal market through the regulation of advisory and municipal series activities, FINRA offers the Series 51 examination to broker/dealer managers who previously have attained either the Series 24 or Series 26 certification. FINRA Series 51 covers a variety of topics, including the management of those who advertise and sell municipal fund securities.

A 90-minute exam, FINRA Series 51 consists of 60 multiple-choice questions. Candidates must successfully answer at least 42. The exam costs $255, and candidates may not bring any reference materials into the examination room.
